Between Light and Shadow: energies and precautions when performing eclipse rituals!
Rituals performed during astronomical events such as eclipses, whether solar or lunar, have a long history of meaning and practice in various cultures around the world. For centuries, these phenomena have been considered moments of power and transformation, in which energies manifest in an intense and unique way. However, understanding the differences in energies between performing rituals during eclipses requires a careful and sensitive analysis of the effects involved.
In this article, we talk to Dani Petrucci, a witch who has been practicing for almost four decades, about the nuances of these powers and discuss the essential precautions that must be observed when manipulating these energies during rituals, in order to guarantee a safe and respectful practice. Solar vs. lunar eclipse rituals: is there a difference?
For many traditions, there is a big difference between the energies manifested in lunar and solar eclipses. As a union of god and goddess, everything is enhanced, but each eclipse will bring with it the energy of a sign, of an astrological and energetic movement.
There is also the question of the Sun overlapping the Moon and the Moon overlapping the Sun. At the end of each of these events, depending on which one it is, there will be more light or more shadow. And that’s why it’s so important to work with the right energies. Here’s how they differ and how best to take advantage of them.
Lunar eclipse
In a lunar eclipse, it is the feminine energy that is in focus. This is a time to work on balance, but above all on our shadows and all that is hidden. The gods love each other, but the darkness remains.
During this phenomenon, give preference to rituals that work on self-knowledge, your shadows, fears and insecurities.
Solar eclipse
When we have a solar eclipse, which is rarer, there is a period of darkness, but its end is illuminated. Therefore, here we work on masculine energy, liberations, rebirths, the rational side and balance in all its aspects.
What area of your life is in need of light? What do you need to illuminate? Perhaps you are going through a phase of profound transformation and need to free yourself, to be reborn! How about that?
What are the precautions when performing rituals during eclipses?
Faced with all the power of an eclipse, there are certainly precautions to be taken when performing a ritual. Among them, it is essential that you know which energy you are dealing with and that you have the necessary fundamentals to perform the spell.
According to Dani:
“If you don’t know much about it, don’t do it. If you’re not prepared to do a ritual, don’t do it. Because we’re talking about great forces in motion. It’s the same thing as when we have portals, so these are very powerful energies”.
In addition, she also says that if someone doesn’t know what they’re doing or if their energy simply isn’t right on the day, this will certainly interfere with the development and outcome of the ritual.
So if you’re doing well, if you’ve studied, if you’re confident, or even if you’re accompanied by someone who has more knowledge about that energy, go ahead. And that goes for any spell you’re going to do in life. If you’re not feeling well or secure, a prayer is more than enough.
With a simple prayer you can move a lot of energy through verbalization and, even if you’re having a down day, it won’t affect the person’s life at all. “Prayer is very powerful, but it won’t give you any negative feedback if it doesn’t work out for some reason,” adds Dani.
Rituals during eclipses: Be careful when choosing elements
If you want to do a ritual, study the elements very carefully to see if they resonate with the energy of the eclipse. Is it solar? Annular? Lunar? What sign is it in? And are the elements you choose in line with this energy? The crystals, the color of the candle, the herbs, the incense… Understand the reasoning behind this spell, and then do it with peace of mind.
Dani concludes by saying that:
“The witch doesn’t need anything. She doesn’t need any element, just her mind. A balanced, strong mind. So the only thing you need to do is look up at the sky, even if you can’t see the eclipse, and make your requests with all the love in your heart, which will certainly bring you much more than any other ritual you don’t know much about.”
With or without a ritual, don’t miss out on feeling this energy, even if it’s with a prayer or by looking up at the sky and connecting with it. Enjoy these incredible and unique celestial opportunities!
