South Node and Lunar Nodes
Before diving in the explanations about South Node, first we need to tell what Lunar Nodes are. Lunar Nodes are the main aspects of Kabbalah and Karmic Astrology. Scholars also call them “Dragon’s Head” and “Dragon’s Tail” for carrying information about our future and past.

Unlike other aspects of our birth chart that we can actually see, Lunar Nodes are imaginary points in the sky. We calculate these points from the intersection of the orbit of the Sun and the Moon. Since the entire course of the Moon takes about a month and the course of the Sun a year (in fact, the Earth course around the Sun), people of the same age usually have the same Lunar Nodes.
Once you find out where your North Node is positioned, you automatically know your South Node. That is because the imaginary points are in exactly opposite directions. If you have North Node in Taurus, you have South Node in Scorpio and so on. To find out yours, you can look for a symbol that reminds the symbol of Leo upside down in your birth chart.
Lunar Nodes are interesting factors because they tell us a path to follow in the future and some hints from the past. This is precious for the life we are experiencing right now. The North and South Node present contrary energies and we should work on them if we wish to evolve during our existence.
As the names say themselves, North Node means what is ahead us and South Node means what is behind. In Karmic terms, North Node shows what we should be today and tomorrow while South Node tells what we were in past lives.
The relation between the Nodes is very intimate. If you have North Node in Taurus, it means that in past lives you had Scorpio’s characteristics that were not well worked on. From that, you learn that you need to find an aspect of Taurus that will balance the flaws of Scorpio.
Its meaning
The South Node is the luggage we bring from past trips. And inside this suitcase, we can find characteristics that have been consolidated in our personality during past lives.
Do you sometimes not have the impression that you repeat habits without even knowing why? Something you feel you always did without ever learning or going through some situation that made you that way? That sense may be the South Node showing repetitive aspects that must be balanced in this life.
And what is the other feeling that repetitive habits bring? Comfort. Yes, we can consider South Node as a comfort zone. Although this zone brings good things like safety, satisfaction and familiarity, this can be a bit dangerous.
After all, our mission will always be to balance the positive and negative aspects of our personality. However, even unconsciously, we can flee to this area countless times and fail in our mission of evolution.
South Node comes to reveal characteristics of ours that we must attenuate because they are already very lived and developed by us. These characteristics because they are so familiar do not inspire new challenges and can lead to stagnation.
It can be very difficult to get rid of South Node baggage, but if we do not get at least a balance, we can miss the North Node goals. In addition to repeating the same mistakes throughout our lives and blocking our growth.
